Rotation Sunday School

"Journeys of St. Paul" is our Rotation Model Sunday School, for children in kindergarten through third grade. "Journeys" has energized our children’s ministry through hands-on, experiential learning in art, music, science, computers, Bible storytelling, cooking, games and video.

Children travel in three age–designated groups: Explorers (kindergarten), Trailblazers (first and second grade) and Travelers (third and fourth grade). They experience the same Bible story over a four or five week period (a unit), in a different “station” each week.

Frequently Asked Questions

*What time does "Journeys" begin?
Our "Journey" begins every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m., in Camp Galilee, Room 309.

*How do I know where to pick my child up?
A schedule with room numbers is posted on the third floor bulletin board, next to the "Journeys" Information Desk. Age appropriate schedules are available to pick up from this desk as well. Your child’s age group sign, is hung outside the door of their station each week, as well.

*How many stations will they visit?
The children will visit one station per week, over a four or five week unit. Therefore, they will experience four or five stations each unit. Stations are chosen for each individual Bible unit, based on those which are most exciting!

*What is the difference between a shepherd and a teacher?
Each of the three groups of children are designated a “shepherd”, an adult with whom nurtures and supports them over the entire year. Shepherds do not prepare a lesson, but instead develop personal relationships with the children.

Teachers teach one station, three times over the duration of the unit. They teach the same lesson, adapting for the learning differences amongst the age groups. They choose which station they are interested in teaching, based upon their strengths and interests. They may choose to teach one unit a year, or every unit!

All curricula is provided.

*How can I volunteer in "Journeys"?
Please contact Lorie Williamson, Director of Children and Family Ministries, lwilliamson@stpaulchurch.net or (459-1595), if you are interested in volunteering. Shepherds and teachers are needed to make this a successful ministry.

All volunteers must participate in St. Paul’s “Child Abuse Prevention Training”, prior to volunteering.
