St. Paul visitor information
You can find our inviting stone church with its distinctive bell tower on the corner of Bardstown Road and Douglass Boulevard in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood. We invite you to visit us soon.
Accessibility: You can find handicapped-accessible parking as you turn off of Douglass Boulevard, between St. Paul's older and newer buildings. Our main church building has two elevators, and our entire campus is ADA compliant in accessibility. We provide hearing aids in the sanctuary for the hearing impaired in our traditional services. All services are wheelchair accessible.
Off-street parking: Our church is a bit "land locked," as we are located in a thriving residential/commercial area. But we have a lot of off-street parking behind the church buildings, on either side of the alley that runs parallel to Douglass Boulevard. We reserve closer spaces for visitors and for our older members on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday evenings. (If you click on "Zoom here" in the nearby Google map, the blue polygons show where you can park.)
Some history: St. Paul United Methodist Church has ministered in Louisville since the early 1920s, when our first members opened a storefront church. We have expanded and renovated our neo-Gothic stone church with its distinctive bell tower several times in recent decades. In 2001, we opened our spacious Family Life Center, complete with gym/worship space, classrooms, and coffee house.
Today: Our facilities are busy all week, as we house both the adult and children's day care sponsored by Highland Community Ministries. We are also open many evenings, as we host small groups, music rehearsals, Bible studies, AA meetings, Scout troops, basketball, and community events.
Our sanctuary, with its extraordinary stained glass windows and pipe organ, is both a quiet refuge where you can pray and a popular venue for concerts and weddings. By contrast, our gym and coffee shop are usually abuzz with activity.
We provide attentive childcare by qualified caregivers during all Sunday morning services and for some other activities during the week.
